SlideWIKI Opencourseware Competition #OECWC2018
Reading time: 2 minutesSlideWiki project launches a contest for the best slide presentations related to educational contents for secondary education, vocational and professional training, higher education and/or community-driven open-education.
By organising this OpenCourseWare (OCW) Competition, the SlideWiki Consortium invites participants to create and import high-quality educational content in the SlideWiki platform. This educational content will have the form of slide presentations and will be directly related to secondary education, vocational and professional training, higher education and/or community-driven open-education with contributions from academics, teachers and learners with disabilities. Participants should create reusable, repurposable, and multilingual material in a crowdsourcing way.

Prizes
The five participant teams that will receive the highest grading by the reviewers in each one of the following categories and will meet the standard requirements in terms of content quality and slides’ number, set by the reviewers, will receive the prize money of 500 Euros each. Since the focus will be on quality and quantity, teams that will create high quality content and many slides, i.e. >200, impressing thus the reviewers, will be awarded the double prize, i.e. 1000 Euros each.
20 prizes in total: 5 prizes to be awarded for each one of the following categories:
secondary education,
vocational and professional training,
higher education,
community-driven open-education.
The winning learning materials will be added to the list of featured educational contents and the authors will be able to continue with their further development.
Competition process and Requirements
Participating authors, or groups of authors, will produce content in SlideWiki, fulfilling the following requirements:
Content and style already available in SlideWiki can be reused.
Content and styles produced by other participants of the competition should not be reused.
Focus on one specific topic as much as possible.
Produced content should be either original or derived from open-licensed sources(e.g. by agreement of the original author).
Include at least 60 slides.
Participants should use the tag OECWC2018 in their slides and clearly indicate the targeted category by using the following tags in this exact format (please see the links): SecondaryEducation, VocationalProfessionalTraining, HigherEducation, or CommunityEducation. This will ensure that the reviewers will be able to access and evaluate the provided input.
Important dates for Participants (2018):
Deadline for creating learning materials: October, 1
Final decision made by the Evaluation Committee and Prize money awarded: November, 1
The prize money will be transferred to the bank account of the team leader of each winning team.
Evaluation Criteria
The SlideWiki Consortium will choose the best learning materials’ samples from the competition entries based on the following criteria:
Structuring of the course (depth of the structuring, relative self-sufficiency of the subdecks etc.)
Quality of the slides (e.g. content, images, videos, styling)
Quality of self-assessment questions (number, diversity in difficulty level)
SlideWiki focuses on its global impact and advocates for multilinguality. Thus please share material in your local languages.
Support for users with disabilities (for example, when your images contain alt-tags and part of you content follows the ‘Easy-To-Read’ methodology)
Protection of Personal Data and Requirements
By participating in this competition, all participants explicitly confirm that the data used are publicly available and re-license-able under CC-BY-SA. If the data used are not publicly available, relevant authorizations must be provided. The SlideWiki Consortium will not collect personal data and will not be held responsible for participants that will not comply with these terms. At no stage of the research and development cycle of SlideWiki.eu do we plan to store any personal information. Participants of this competition are responsible for managing their own resources. Participants who will not respect and fully comply with the terms of this competition will be disqualified.
